Wow! 2023 marked 25 years of the Olmsted Spirit 5K race and 2-mile walk. It's been quite a “ride.”

As the Founding Sponsor of the “Olmsted Spirit 5K Race/Walk” since 1998, SpectraLight Photography is honored to be a part of an event that has awarded over $266,000.00 in college scholarships to Olmsted Falls graduating seniors.

These students have demonstrated selflessness by serving and/or giving back to their community throughout their young lives.

In 2023, race director Jeff Swislocki also blessed the Olmsted Community Center with a $500.00 donation.

The event is a “community treasure” – with thousands of Olmsted Falls and Township walkers and runners participating over the years.

Looking back in time…

Happy 10-year anniversary to Allie Meyerhoefer and David Dischinger. On May 22, 2010, I photographed their wedding.

What really made this day special for me was being able to witness and capture their love for each other and their families which translated beautifully in their wedding photographs.

I've known David's family for over 20 years and have had the honor of photographing six of his sibling's senior portraits and two different family portraits. What has always stood out to me is the bond they share as a family and how easy they were to photograph because of the kindness they extended toward me. The Dischingers are truly a very special family.

In fact, they remind me a lot of the Kenawell family I grew to know and love during my high school days in Du Bois, PA. That “clan” consisted of 13 brothers and sisters who always had each other's backs. I always thought it would be cool to be one of those thirteen. The closest I got to being a part of their family was having the oldest Kenawell – Richard, as the best man at my wedding. (BTW – September 20th marks my 40-year wedding anniversary.)

Four years after I photographed Allie and David's wedding, I asked Allie's sister, Skyler, to be a high school senior SpokesModel for my studio. I got to know her a little when she was a bridesmaid in Allie's wedding and thought she had the perfect personality to represent my studio. Her portrait session was amazing as you'll see in this video!

My photograph of South Central Park is featured on pages 6-7. This photo was also featured on the cover of the 2010 North Ridgeville Rotary Calendar.

John Kapelka and Hampton Brooks McCray are on pages 34-35.

It was a wonderful experience photographing North Ridgeville's very own local celebrities!

Recently, I had the opportunity to photograph Kara Solomon – a North Ridgeville High School senior who is truly a “free-spirit.”

Kara's energy and playfulness made the session “fly” by as seen in one of her portraits here. What made her session extra special is that she is one of our $350.00 senior portrait scholarship winners!

“Receiving the $350 scholarship truly means the world to me. Without it there would have been no way for me to pay for senior pictures,” wrote Kara in a recent note.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity make senior portraits a reality for her.
