View from New York Harbor in New York City – November 2001 – two-and-a-half months after the 9/11 terror attacks. I added a glow effect to the Statue of Liberty with Topaz Studio 2 software to symbolize that our freedom still shined through the darkness of that very solemn day. “Cancel the trip – terrorists have attacked New York!” Those were the words I heard my wife utter over the telephone from work the morning of September 11, 2001.

There weren't any more attacks on the U.S. after that, so just 10 weeks later,  my wife, two young daughters and I spent Thanksgiving weekend in New York City. There was a somber mood cast over the city with the huge loss of life when the Twin Towers fell.

Through it all, the terrorists failed to take away our freedom. Seeing “Lady Liberty” keeping watch over New York Harbor gave us comfort and a sense of pride for our country. It is those feelings that inspired the creation of the above photo.

This is the original, low-resolution image taken from a moving tour boat. I had to increase the digital file size and then sharpen it with Topaz Labs Photo Ai. (See my video review of the software here: www.SpectraLight.com/PhotoAiDemo) I then adjusted the color and contrast with Topaz Studio 2 to create the first image at the top of this page. The software I utilized to enhance this photo is Topaz Labs Photo Ai – an easy-to-use photo editing software that instantly sharpens out-of-focus images, increases the file size of low-resolution photos, and dramatically reduces noise (grain) in as little as one-click! See my video review of Topaz Labs Photo Ai here: www.SpectraLight.com/PhotoAiDemo

I then adjusted the color and contrast with Topaz Studio 2 to create the first image at the top of this page.

  3. I’ve always been a fan of your work and kindness. I love these pictures for different reasons. Thank you for sharing them with us. I was at work that day. I was stunned and could not believe what I heard and saw. My kids were at their school and when I got off. I had to pick them up right away. All the other kids left school earlier. They dismissed them and mine had to wait till I got off of work. The kids watched the news while they waited for me to pick them up. I watched it all play out on the tv stations. I was off work the next day. We can NEVER forget or erase those images.
