It was a birthday present to myself… a visit to Cleveland's NASA Glenn Research Center's 🚀- 75 Year Anniversary Open House on May 22, 2016. When I read that the sprawling facility was going to be open to the public with many areas previously unseen – I just HAD to “get onboard!”

The facilities have contributed to some of the nation’s greatest innovations over the last 75 years (now 80 years).

Visitors were guided through world-class facilities where we saw technologies that contribute to the future of NASA in aeronautics and our journey to Mars. We saw a research plane, rocket, a couple of wind tunnels, the Zero-Gravity facility, GRUVE Lab, Propulsion System Lab, Engine Research Building, Glenn Extreme Environment Rig (GEER), the COMPASS Lab and so much more! …

A couple years ago, Jim Morabito called to see if I could save an old photo from the 1920s or 1930s that was deteriorating and fading badly. He found it in his attic and realized it had been passed around in his family for several years.

The photo is of the first house that his grandparents lived in on West 65th Street when they immigrated to Cleveland from Italy in the early 1900s. Jim's grandmother had a grocery store and his grandfather had a barber shop downstairs. His grandparents lived in the back of the building and Jim's family lived upstairs. …

This video shows before-and-after photos that were blurry and then fixed with Topaz Sharpen AI. It does not show how to fix them with the software but only the final results.

It only takes a couple of clicks to fix an out-of-focus or blurry photo within the software so that’s why it isn’t demonstrated here.

If you want to try it before you buy it, click here: Topaz Labs “Sharpen” software

Looking back in time…

Happy 10-year anniversary to Allie Meyerhoefer and David Dischinger. On May 22, 2010, I photographed their wedding.

What really made this day special for me was being able to witness and capture their love for each other and their families which translated beautifully in their wedding photographs. …

In 2009, I was asked by the North Ridgeville Rotary Club to donate my photography services for their 2010 Calendar. They sold it as a club fundraiser.

After meeting with members of the club, I suggested doing some “unusual” shots featuring a different member each month. I wanted the calendar to become a collector's item because of the fun photos I had in my “mind's eye.” …

Every now-and-then, a rare opportunity comes along that you just gotta grab. For me, it was a flight on an “experimental” airplane that my neighbor, Bob Kelly, built in his garage a couple years ago.

Amateur-built aircraft are licensed by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as “Experimental.” Per FAA regulations, if an individual builds at least 51 percent of an aircraft, it is eligible to be registered in the amateur-built category. …

Since the 2020 Duck Tape Festival was cancelled because of the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic; I went through my old archives and created this video to celebrate the 2014 festival. That's when a Guinness World Record was set for the most people modeling in a duct tape fashion show. It took place in Avon, Ohio on June 14, 2014. …

In October 2018, my Christian Brother, George Mason, and I enjoyed a kayak adventure at Pond #7 at the Resthaven Wildlife Area in Castalia, OH – not far from the famous “Blue Hole.”

It was a warm, sunny day (got pretty sunburned as you'll see in the video) and had a great time relaxing on the water on a Monday when everyone else was grinding away at their day jobs. …

North Ridgeville Fire Station Open House: Virtual Tour in 360°

This summer I had the opportunity to photograph the new North Ridgeville Fire Station No. 1 Open House. But ordinary photos just wouldn't give the immersive feel that this large and complex structure presented.

I decided to photograph the station with a 360° camera and create a “virtual tour” with those images. The result of my work is seen above. If you're viewing this page from a computer – place your mouse anywhere on the photo, click and hold the mouse button and start moving the mouse in any direction. …
