Like so many people, I was deeply saddened to learn of Dolly Parton’s passing.
Dolly was far more than an extraordinarily gifted singer and songwriter. Her warmth, humor, kindness, humility, and generosity made her someone I deeply admired. She brought so much happiness to the world through her music, while her charitable work—especially her efforts to place books in the hands of children—made a lasting difference in countless lives.
As a photographer and photo-restoration artist, I wanted to honor Dolly’s memory in a personal way. I found this badly damaged photograph of her as a little girl and carefully restored and reconstructed it, bringing back as much detail as possible while preserving the sweetness and spirit of the original image.
It is my small tribute to a remarkable woman who rose from humble beginnings, never forgot where she came from, and used her success to bring joy and hope to others.
Thank you for the music, the laughter, the generosity, and the memories, Dolly. You will be greatly missed, but the light you shared with the world will continue to shine.
